This companion to Jordan Casteel: Field of view at the Hill Art Foundation offers a closer look at Casteel’s paintings, proposing new perspectives and pairings via carefully considered details. Despite changes in the people and places in the works presented in Field of view, consistent formal and thematic through lines persist, particularly in the depictions of textures and textiles, bold color palette, and compositional symmetries between bodies and the landscapes they exist in.

 

Designed by Pacific, the publication nods to the handmade history of the zine while experimenting with different paper weights and page sizes for an elevated design. A text by curator Lauren Haynes offers insight into the curatorial process alongside a closer look at select works in the exhibition.
