From the Digital Public Library of America's archives comes the iconic "Books are Weapons" graphic. The language and logo are taken from a poster encouraging citizens to use resources from the unparalleled Schomburg Collection of the New York Public Library to learn more about African and African-American history and culture. The poster was designed by the NYC WPA War Services between 1941 and 1943.
