Alake Shilling
The Hippest Trip in America - By Land, Air and Sea
$45
Published as a companion to an exhibition of the same name at Jeffery Deitch Gallery, The Hippest Trip in America - By Land, Air and Sea presents the work of Los Angeles-based artist, Alake Shilling. Shilling creates characters stemming from a childhood obsession with Lisa Frank, the aesthetic of after-school craft, and disco music. In this publication, designed by Pacific, Shilling's creatures are displayed alongside source material and translated into a sticker sheet inset on the back cover of the book.
Texts by Laura Owens, Kidogo Kennedy, Perwana Nazif, and Grant Levy-Lucero compliment a series of works from Shilling's solo exhibition with Jeffrey Deitch Gallery.
